Morocco 1970´s Retro Football Shirt
The 1970s was a decade that featured two standout moments for Moroccan football: the participation and strong performances at the 1970 World Cup and the winning of the African Cup of Nations six years later.
Competing in the finals of a World Cup for the first time, Morocco were in no way out of their depth on the global stage. In their opening group stage game, they even led mighty West Germany before losing narrowly 2-1. A 3-0 defeat to Peru was more in line with expectations and ensured group stage elimination. However, they ended their campaign on a strong note with a 1-1 draw against Bulgaria, with Maouhoub Ghazouani scoring the equalizer for the Lions of the Atlas.
In the 1976 African Cup of Nations, a side that featured defining contributions from goalkeeper Mohamed Hamid Hazzaz, defender Mustapha Fetoui, and free-scoring forward Ahmed Faras won the competition by finishing top of the final group stage, winning two of its games and drawing the other.
Ahmed Faras scored three goals to finish as the tournament’s top scorer, and Abdelaali Zahraoui contributed a couple of his own.
