Switzerland 1990 - 92 Retro Football Shirt
With veterans like Heinz Hermann and Alain Sutter still an integral part of the Swiss scene as the decade ticked over into the 1990s, a new generation of younger attacking talent was emerging to complement them through players like Stephane Chapuisat, Kubilay Turkilmaz, and Adrian Knup.
Qualification for the 1992 European Championship looked highly achievable until late in the campaign when the Swiss threw away a two-goal half-time lead to draw at home to eventual group winners Scotland. Another opportunity to top the group was missed with a 1-0 away defeat in Romania.
Coach Uli Stielike was replaced by Roy Hodgson at the beginning of 1992, and the Englishman started to put together the strong and well-balanced side that would go on to achieve World Cup qualification for the 1994 tournament in the United States.
