Portugal 1972 Retro Football Shirt

A squad that still featured brilliant talents like Torres, Nene, Simoes, and of course, the incomparable Eusébio achieved minor acclaim in 1972 with success in that summer's Independence Cup. All five of their fixtures were won with Chile and Argentina among the opponents comfortably defeated during this friendly tournament. This success was really little more than a consolation prize, however, following failure to qualify for the final stages of the European Championship being played that same summer. A defeat to Scotland in the qualifiers had left them needing to beat group leaders Belgium handsomely in the last game, but a 1-1 draw meant they spent yet another major tournament on the sidelines.
