Bayern München's 1986 Bundesliga title win was one of the most memorable in the club's history. A poor first-half of the season was overturned with a remarkable run in the second half that brought just a single defeat in 17 League games. Even so, Udo Lattek's team still went into the final round trailing Werder Bremen by two points.
 
Even Bayern's 6-0 demolition of Mönchengladbach would have meant nothing had Bremen taken just a single point at Stuttgart, but their shock shock loss meant Bayern jumped to the summit for the first time this season to win an eighth Bundesliga title on goal difference. A week later they added the DFB-Pokal too thanks to a comprehensive victory over Stuttgart.
