Milan would fall short in the defence of their Serie A title during the 1962-63 season, but this was a historic season wider afield as Milan took their first steps towards establishing the international reputation we know them for today.

The club's legendary manager Nereo Rocco took his team of Italian and Brazilian stars to European Cup success this season, the first time the trophy had been won by an Italian side and bringing redemption for Milan's defeat in the 1958 Final. It was an appropriate accolade for a fine side inspired by inside-forward Gianni Rivera, that year's Ballon D'Or runner-up.
