AS Roma 1983 Scudetto Retro Football Jacket
Roma cast aside the disappointment of their narrow loss in the 1981 title race to bounce back two seasons later and finally become champions of Italy again, their first success since 1942 and just a second overall.
As expected Juventus provided their main competition and while the Turin side inflicted home and away defeats on Roma, they lacked the giallorossi's resoluteness and consistency. Roma lost just one other fixture all season and secured the title with two rounds remaining by defeating Avellino on the same afternoon that Juventus's hopes were ended by Inter.
The Brazilian midfielder Falcao was the driving force behind this fine team and he was backed up by great talent throughout the team: the reliable Tancredi in goal, Nela, Vierchowod, and De Bartolomei near impenetrable in defense and Conti, Prohaska, and Roberto Pruzzo providing skill, flair, and goals in the forward positions.
