That optimism was only partly realised - domestically this proved a disappointing season with redemption coming in Europe as Inter secured a second UEFA Cup win in four seasons.With the goals of Bergkamp to the fore, Inter navigated a route to the final by overcoming Rapid Bucharest, Apollon Limassol, Norwich City, Borussia Dortmund and Cagliari. Single goal home and away wins over Casino Salzburg brought the trophy back to San Siro.
