FC Porto 1986 - 87 Retro Football Shirt
FC Porto started the 1986-87 season with a target of completing a domestic hat-trick of League titles, though few supporters would ultimately care that this ambition would not be realised. This was a season in which domestic events were dwarfed by Porto’s miraculous ascent to the summit of the European game as they became continental champions for the first time.
A straightforward run in the European Cup early rounds took the Portuguese side past Rabat, Ajax, Vitkovice, and Brondby, but a powerful Dynamo Kiev team looked formidable semi-final opponents. Porto raised their game and won both legs to take them into a Final date with Bayern Munich in Vienna.
Their task became even tougher when prolific striker Fernando Gomes, the man who had scored important goals throughout the campaign, broke his leg just days before the Final. The West Germans led by a single goal until the 79th minute when two strikes in two minutes from Rabah Madjer and Juary turned the game on its head and took the trophy to Porto for the first time.
