Real Betis 1987 - 90 Away Retro Football Shirt
The end of the 1980s saw Real Betis caught up in a fight to preserve their La Liga status. In the 1987-88 season, the team under English coach John Mortimore finished in 16th place, just 2 points above the relegation zone. The highlight came with a Great Derby win away at Sevilla.
The following season saw a further dip despite the goals of the evergreen Hipolito Rincón, and an 18th place finish brought a relegation play-off which was lost to Tenerife. The 1989-90 season proved much brighter with an immediate return to the top flight, a promotion inspired by the 22 goals of newly arrived forward Pepe Mel.
