Sevilla FC 1970 - 71 Retro Football Jacket
Sevilla kicked off the 1970-71 season full of ambition following a third-place La Liga finish the previous season under their Austrian coach Max Merkel. Unfortunately, the club failed to progress as hoped.
The Fairs Cup campaign ended with an opening-round defeat to Turkish opposition, and despite a bright start to the League campaign, which included a 3-1 home win over Real Madrid, Los Rojiblancos finished the season in seventh place, one place and three points adrift of European qualification.
Regulars like Santos Bedoya and Eloy were valuable contributors, as was the Paraguayan-born striker Bernardo Acosta, who finished as the team’s top scorer with 15 goals.
