Tunisia 1980's Retro Football Shirt
Tunisia emerged into the international spotlight for the first time in the second half of the 1970s. The nation achieved qualification for the 1978 African Nations Cup, but more importantly that group also doubled as the qualifiers for the 1978 World Cup meaning the national team would represent their continent in Argentina.
At the tournament itself, the Eagles of Carthage defeated Mexico 3-1, making history as the first African nation to win a match at a World Cup finals tournament. A brave and resolute goalless draw against West Germany was another highlight of their tournament but, unfortunately, Abdelmajid Chetali's impressive performers narrowly missed out on progress to the knockout stages.
Key members of that 1978 team included keeper Sadok Sassi, attacking midfielder Tarak Dhiab, and main striker Mohieddine Habita.
