NEW FC LORIENT COLLECTION

From the Atlantic coast of Brittany came a club with a character all of its own. FC Lorient built its identity through bold football, strong regional pride and the unmistakable orange and black colours that have followed Les Merlus through every chapter of their story.

The 1998 - 99 season marked a historic breakthrough as Lorient competed in Ligue 1 for the first time. Under long serving coach Christian Gourcuff, the club approached the challenge with courage and belief. Although the campaign ended in relegation by the narrowest of margins, it represented the beginning of a new era and established Lorient among the names of French football.

Just a few years later came the greatest moment in the club’s history. In 2001 - 02, Lorient overcame Rennes, Louhans Cuiseaux, Paris Saint Germain and Nîmes to reach the Coupe de France final. Jean Claude Darcheville scored the decisive goal against Bastia, securing the club’s first major trophy and delivering an unforgettable moment for the people of Brittany.

The official FC Lorient retro collection celebrates these landmark seasons with two shirts that carry the identity, ambition and proud regional spirit of Les Merlus.
