D10S - Football In The Land Of Maradona

Football is a religion in Argentina. Nowhere else on earth does the love for the game go further than here. That’s why Diego Armando Maradona is considered a saint by a large part of the population. Writer/photographer Joris van de Wier could barely have a conversation without it turning to Maradona within a minute, and to what he has meant to Argentinians. That’s why he named this photo book after him, exactly five years after the passing of D10S.

Argentina is more than just Maradona. It is a dreamland for stadium lovers, because stadiums are literally everywhere, each more beautiful than the last. But the most wonderful thing about Argentina is its supporters—colourful, fiercely passionate, and of all ages.

In total, Van de Wier made three trips to the South American country, where he attended 75 matches and took hundreds of photos of stadiums, their surroundings, football-related places, and supporters. And countless murals of El Diego. All of them are collected in this magnificent coffee-table book.
